It's a new week of #BandofHeroes, where we love to celebrate positive news from our partners in response to the on-going Coronavirus Pandemic. This week’s hero is one of our go-to stores for everything tech, Best Buy. Read on to know more about how Best Buy is helping residents in senior living homes to stay connected with their families through technology during COVID-19.

Best Buy helps residents in Canadian senior living homes

As we all continue to practice social distance, it is important to come up with new ways to stay connected to our loved ones. To support social connection for those in senior living homes, Best Buy Canada teamed up with Google to help residents connect virtually to the people they care about. Google Nest Hub Max devices were donated to 326 private and public senior living residences across Canada, helping nearly 40,000 seniors to stay connected with their loved ones.

“The role that social connection plays in the lives of humans is paramount. Seniors around the world have been deeply impacted by COVID-19 and bringing any kind of reassurance and virtual touch into their lives through the use of technology is a rewarding task. Best Buy Canada had the pleasure of partnering with Google to make this happen. It is heartwarming to see family and friends gain comfort in knowing they can see and hear their loved ones from anywhere.” said Sara Aghvami, director of Best Buy Health.

These are only a few new initiatives that Best Buy doing to respond to communities they serve during this time. To date, Nike has also given over $10,000 to local youth sports teams in North America through FlipGive.
